Sesta di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino 2006

Decanted for an hour or so before pouring. This one is well built, but may be a little shut down just now. The nose took some coaxing to reveal dense black cherry, brambles, and sage. The palate is youthful and powerful with lots of grip and dusty black cherry fruit, savory notes, and violets. There is good length on the finish, with charred underbrush, earth, and lots of structure. Later on the nose, a sort of acrid / mineral note came out, that was a little disconcerting, but was somehow consistent with the size of this wine. It's clearly awkward at this point, but only because there is so much packed in.90-91 Pts
